WEED PULL – SEPTEMBER 2022
Keeping our waters in tip-top condition is a vital part of lake management. Not only does it benefit our members, but it also provides a more stable environment for the stock and wildlife that live there. Keeping control of weed growth is one of the many tasks that our lake managers undertake, and this year it proved to be quite an epic event, with an estimated 40 tonnes of weed removed from the Warwick Lane venue.
For the past few seasons, the Club has hired a contractor to do the actual weed cutting, which has drastically reduced the amount of time it takes to remove it from the lake. It also removes a lot more than can be done by hand, but it still took the entire day on Saturday to complete that stage of the work.
Dan and Mike would like to give a big thank you to Stuart Saunders, Mick Kettlety and Phil Scott for giving up their free time on Saturday to help out, to Scott Palmer for doing his allocated work party but for staying the entire day, plus all of the members who turned up for their work party on Sunday to finish the job of moving the weed deposited in the swims – everyone put a lot of physical effort in and it was greatly appreciated. Below are some images and video taken on the day.
